IGNOU launches new programmes, extends last date for admission

JAMMU, Feb 3: Keeping in view the difficulties being faced by the prospective students in registering themselves during the present time of pandemic and harsh weather conditions, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has further extended the last date of admission upto 10th of February, 2022.
The admission is carried out in online mode only for which the complete details are available on the University website.
Meanwhile, IGNOU and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, signed an MoU for linking vocational education and training to higher education for trainees attached to National Skill Training Institutes (NSTI), ITIs, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras (PMKK) and Jan Shikshan Sansthans (JSS) for their upward mobility.
Under this MoU, 32 NSTIs, 3000+ ITIs, 500 PMKKs and nearly 300 JSS will be associated with IGNOU as Registration Centres, Examination Centres and Work Centres for hands-on training. Students will get an opportunity to join the three-year degree programme of IGNOU and shall have easy access to attain higher education.
The University has also launched several new programmes like Master of Arts (Corporate Social Responsibility) (MACSR) programme which is meant for CSR professionals across India and for graduates / post-graduates interested in pursuing a career as a CSR Professional. Master Degree programmes in Jyotish and Urdu have also been launched. The programmes are MA Jyotish (MJY) and MA Urdu (MUD). A certificate programme in Saral Sanskrit Bodh has also been launched. The programme is Certificate in (Communicative Sanskrit) Saral Sanskrit Bodh (CSSB). The School of Extension and Development Studies has launched MA in Urban Studies. This programme will be extremely useful for those graduates who are interested in pursuing a career in the urban sector. Moreover, it will strengthen the capacities of urban local bodies.
The School of Sciences is in the process of launching the MSC Physics and M.Sc. (Geography) programmes in the ODL mode in 2023.
‘The Jammu Regional Centre of IGNOU has consistently shown growth in enrollment over the years and around 27,500 students have enrolled themselves for fresh and subsequent years/semesters in the recently concluded July 2021 admission session which is a significant achievement’, said Dr Vikram Singh, Regional Director I/C.
