Dr. Bodh R. Sharma
Mr Arun Sharma is one of persons who consecrated his life for propagating French language in J&K. For achieving his glorious mission for the welfare of people, his efforts are countless. Besides a guest faculty of French language at University of Jammu,he is a visionary and proficient author of two widely recognised French books and a gracious mentor who has been guiding numerous students at School and University echelon.
Mr. Sharma’s first French book entitled, “Mon Livre’ got wide acclamation from different spheres of people including politicians, bureaucrats, professors, engineers, doctors, scholars, students, media and general public, not only from Jammu but also from rest of India.
After the success of his first book, he has come up with his second book entitled, “French Phrases and Useful Words.” This book embraces important Phrases and useful words, applicable in our daily life while tête-à-tête in French language. For making it more understandable, he presents myriads of phrases in French to English translation merely in 128 pages. These important phrases can sort out the problems faced by people as they interact with French familiar people or visit French speaking countries. Some of the phrases viz., Bonjour (Hello), Merci (Thank You), Je t’aime (I love You) etc. are becoming as fashionable words of the new generation as we can observe the French word, RSVP (Repondez S’il Vous Plait, means Reply Please) in different wedding and Birthday cards. The “French Phrases and Useful Words” has been narrated for the language learners to know about the important French Phrases in an easy way.
The book was released by K. K. Bhat, IGNOU, Regional Director, Jammu, in a simple but impressive and expressive function at Press club. While appreciating the efforts of Mr. Sharma, Mr Bhat expressed French language as one of the sweetest language and is spoken in more than 27 countries of the world. It is the official language of International organisations like WTO,WHO, ILO, UNO etc.
In fact, due to French language many people have been absorbed in various MNCs, Tourism Sector, and Educational institutions. It is worthwhile to mention that Mr. Sharma is also the Founder and President of Club De Francais (French Language Club, Jammu) which is first of its kind in J&K with 500 members, that has helped numerous people to serve as French Teachers in different Schools and Colleges of Jammu. In addition to this, the club has organised various events for promoting the French language in J&K from time to time.
Mr Sharma reckons French language not a peril to the local languages rather an opportunity for enlightening our beautiful culture and places to the other nations in the form of literature as it would be translated from local languages to French language and it will pave the way for cordial relationships with other countries as well.This certainly requires an integrated endeavour from all of us to Learn and Earn with a passion and purpose.
