CEC, CGM IDBI inspect work on model village

LEH, Aug 10: Chief Executive Councilor of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Rigzin Spalbar along with Chief General Manager IDBI, Krishnandu Banerjee and his team and member TISS, Mumbai Sudharshan today visited Taru village to inspect work on Rs 2 crore project launched jointly by LAHDC and TISS and financially supported by IDBI under Corporate Social Responsibility Scheme.
Citing the reason for choosing Taru for this project, CEC said that Taru was the worst affected village with 70% of the agricultural land damaged and related infrastructure washed out in the 2010 flash floods and this project suited well to reconstruct the village. He further added that this project in Taru is a step towards the implementation of Vision Documents-2025 initiated with the 12th Five Year Plan and Council aims at reviving land based economy and put the village on the track of sustainable development.
“The success story of Taru as a model village will be an examplary one that will be replicated in other villages,” CEC said.
On the occasion, Chief General Manager, IDBI expressed satisfaction over the quality of the work done till date.
Giving a brief of the total works undertaken by TISS as the implementing agency of  the project, Sonam Jorgais, Project Director, TISS Leh said that of the total 20 works under this project 3 works have been completed till date and 12 are in hands. He said that all these works are being carried out in full consultation and involvement with the village Gram Sabha and by 2014-15 the project is expected to completed making Taru a model village in true sense.
