Court sentences accused to lifer in robbery, murder case

SRINAGAR, Feb 6: The trial court in Pulwama convicted the two accused to lifer for commission of murder and robbery of a teen aged boy and forwarded the conviction and sentence to High Court for confirmation.
The Principal Sessions Judge Pulwama keeping in view the entire facts and circumstances of the case, deemed it proper to award imprisonment of life to both the accused namely Sameer Ahmad Sheikh of Murran Pulwama and Javid Ahmad Shah of Babhar for commission of murder of a teen aged boy 11 years ago.
Court further awarded 7 years rigorous imprisonment to accused Sameer Ahmad Sheikh and 1-year rigorous imprisonment to accused Javid Ahmad Shah for commission of robbery under section 396 RPC with the direction that all the sentences shall run concurrently. “Execution of the sentence of life imprisonment shall be subject to confirmation of the High Court in terms of Section 374 of CrPC”, trial court said while forwarding the case to High Court to confirmation.
Court also said that no amount of compensation can repair the irreparable loss caused. The mother of the deceased has died. His father is alive, who was out of his home on the date of brutal murder of his son at the hands of the accused. “Therefore, Member Secretary, J&K Legal Services Authority, shall release an amount of Rs. 2.00 lakhs in favour of the father of the deceased”, court directed.
