Two militant modules busted in Anantnag, 11 arrested

SRINAGAR, Feb 8: Police have busted two militant modules in Anantnag district of South Kashmir and arrested 11 persons including three hybrid militants.
An official said that yesterday Anantnag police received credible information that the Jaish-e-Mohammad militant outfit is planning attacks on police and security forces in Srigufwara are of Bijbehara in Anantnag.
“Multiple nakas and check-points were established at various locations. At one check point established at Sakhras crossing Srigufwara a bike having three persons on board was intercepted and they tried to flee but were apprehended by police”, he said adding that during their personal search, two Chinese pistols along with magazine and ammunition was recovered.
He said that during preliminary questioning they revealed their identity as Abass Ahmad Khan son of Nazir HMAD Khan of Liver, Zahoor Ahmad Govgujri son of Abudl Rashid Gowgujri of Vidday and Hiidaitullah Kutay son of Abdul Razak Kutay of Liver Pahalgam.
“They further disclosed that they are the associates of JeM and have planned to attack police and security in Srigufwara area thereafter they will get formally inducted into the organisation. They further revealed that they are in direct contact with Pakistan based JeM handlers and at their behest they were going to attack police and then formally join the KFF an offshoot of JEM”, he said.
He said that on their disclosure two more associates – Shakir Ahmad Gowgojri son of Fayaz Ahmad of Viday Srigufwara and Musharaf Amin Shah son of Mohammad Amin of Katsoo Srigufwara were arrested and arms and ammunition recovered from them.
“In this regard Case FIR No 04/2022 under relevant sections of UAPA and Arms Act has been registered in PS Srigufwara”, he added.
The official said that Anantnag Police also busted a militant module in Bijbehara area by arresting 6 associates of KFF an offshoot of JEM and incriminating material including ammunition has been recovered from their possession.
They have been identified as Fayaz Ahmad Khan son of Ghulam Hassan Khan of Liver Pahilgam, Muntazir Rashid Mir son of Abdul Rashid of Yanner Pahalgam, Mohammad Arif Khan son of Farooq Ahmad Khan of Mandar Gund Sakhras, Adil Ahmad Tarray son of Ghulam Nabi Tarray of Hatigam, Zahid Ahmad Najar son of Nazir Ahmad Najar of Liver Pahalgam and one juvenile.
Police said that a case has been registered under in Police Station Bijbehara and investigations have been taken up.
