JAMMU, Feb 9: All J&K 1947 PoJK Sharnarthi Intellectual Forum today expressed its reservation over the preliminary report of J&K Delimitation Commission which has been put before the associate members of Commission including Members of Parliament from J&K.
During its core committee meeting held under the presidentship of Advocate Amrik Singh, joined by Surjit Singh (secretary of the Forum), members said if the preliminary report of the Delimitation Commission published in print media is virtually correct then it is a murder of democracy and it will reflects adverse reaction on People Representative Act because after 26th years of waiting R S Pura has been again replaced in the category of S/C reserved constituency which clearly shows biased attitude towards a particular section of society by the Commission.
The Forum also reiterated that by merging of Suchetgarh constituency into R S Pura, the Delimitation Commission is going to do injustice with the rural voters. The Forum members stated that the Delimitation Commission has also ignored a big section of PoJK 1947 Sharnarthees who were deciding factor in 17 constituencies and for the last 75 years they played their ample role in electing the legislature of other societies but not themselves because of their scatter settlements.
“Despite our persistent reminders, we were deliberately removed from democratic chart and even our 24 assembly seats of PoJK were freezed without assigning  any solid reason,” the Forum members said, adding, there is resentment amongst the sharnarthees and they feel isolated in free India.
The Forum demanded the Chairman of the Delimitation Commission to reconsider their draft report and redraw the sketch of Jammu district constituencies and also give full status to Suchetgarh constituency along with de-reservation of R S Pura constituency.
