Govt restrictions on media

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Aug 11: The Government has imposed restrictions on media personnel, who were performing their professional duties under extreme tough circumstances in the aftermath of Kishtwar incident.
The Government has indirectly restricted movement of media personnel to cover the events by denying them curfew passes.
Though the media personnel took up the matter with several officials, the media houses were issued very few passes, which were insufficient to cover the staff members even the journalists but to speak of non-journalists, who were essential part of the organisation in publication of newspapers.
The Net services on mobile telephones were also taken off in early hours of this morning.
The civil and police officers continued to shift responsibility on issuance of passes and curbs on their movement.
Though some officers said that identity cards of media organisations would be treated as curfew passes, no such order was passed to Army and police, which refused to honour the identity cards.
