KATHUA, Feb 10:- In its continued efforts to eradicate the menace of bovine smuggling from the society, district police Kathua under the overall supervision of SSP, R C Kotwal- today succeeded in foiling bovine smuggling bid near Banyari bridge, rescued five milch animals and seized one vehicle involved in the smuggling of animals.
Police said a team led by PSI, Swaran Singh Manhas in charge Police Post (PP) Marheen under the supervision of SDPO Border, Sachit Mahajan-while on Naka duty near Banyari bridge noticed one suspicious vehicle (Mahindra Load Carrier) without any Registration number. As the driver of the vehicle was signaled to stop for checking, he fled away from the spot leaving the vehicle behind.
On thorough checking of the vehicle , police team found five bovines in it. All the bovines were rescued and vehicle involved in smuggling of animals was seized.
A case FIR No. 20/2022 U/S 188 IPC, 11/PCA act was registered at Police Station (PS) Rajbagh in this regard and further investigation into this matter has been initiated.
