Parliament adjourned till noon after uproar

NEW DELHI :  Parliament was adjourned till noon today following uproar by members over a host of issues including the solar scam in Kerala, riots in Jammu, land scam allegedly involving Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra and Telangana.
Soon after obituary references in Lok Sabha, Left members trooped into the Well demanding judicial inquiry into the solar scam and resignation of Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
Left members raised slogans and held a banner which said: “Solar scam in Kerala”, “Shame on the nation”.
BJP members raised the fresh allegations levelled against Vadra by IAS officer Ashok Khemka.
Congress members, opposed to Telangana, along with TDP MPs, raised slogans demanding justice.
With pandemonium continuing, Speaker Meira Kumar adjourned the House till noon barely minutes after its met for the day.
Rajya Sabha witnessed two adjournments during Question Hour amid vociferous protests from Opposition benches over riots in Kishtwar, solar scam in Kerala and division of Andhra Pradesh.
M Venkaiah Naidu (BJP) stated that Leader of the Opposition Arun Jaitley wants to make a statement on Kishtwar riots and Jammu and Kashmir government not allowing him to visit the area yesterday.
Chairman Hamid Ansari asked Jaitley to speak even as Left members moved into aisles carrying banners against the solar scam in Kerala and deployment of central forces in the state in view of opposition’s plans to lay seige to the secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram to demand Chandy’s resignation.
Narendra Kumar Kashyap (BSP) also sought to raise the issue of J&K riots.
Amid uproar, the Chair adjourned the House for 15 minutes.
When the House reassembled, Ansari called Jaitley to make his submission but Kashyap continued to raise the issue of riots in J&K.
“Don’t raise zero hour issues now,” he said.
TDP members carrying banners against division of Andhra Pradesh were in the Well all the while.
Members from treasury benches voiced concern over not a single question being answered in the current session of Parliament.
As noisy scenes continued, Ansari adjourned the House till noon. (AGENCIES)_
