6 drug peddlers held

SRINAGAR, Feb 10: olice in a series of actions today said to have arrested six drug peddlers from Ganderbal, Kupwara and Bandipora and recovered a huge quantity of contraband substances from their possession.
In Ganderbal, police said, team from PS Lar at a checkpoint established at Repora Lar, intercepted a suspicious person carrying bags.
“He has been identified as Ghulam Nabi Bhat alias Zadoo son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, resident of Repora Lar Ganderbal. During checking, police recovered 4.8 kgs of cannabis from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to the police station,” police said.
In Kupwara, police said, a police party of PS Trehgam at a checkpoint established at Trehgam Market arrested three drug peddlers identified as Noorul Hassan Bhagat son of Abdul Ahad Bhagat resident of Bhagat Mohalla Trehgam, Mohd Ashraf Ganai alias Ashtar, son of Wali Mohammad Ganie and Mohd Aslam Malik, son of Wali Mohammad Malik, both residents of Rampora Hayan.
“During checking, 65 grams of charas has been recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to the police station where they remain in custody,” police said.
Similarly in Bandipora, police team from Hajin at a checkpoint established at Hajin Bridge arrested two drug peddlers and recovered 150 grams of charas from their possession.
