JAMMU, Feb 13: All India Jat Maha Sabha (AIJMS), Jammu Urban unit today staged a strong protest against the draft proposal of Delimitation Commission.
On the directions of Ch Manmohan Singh, activists of Jat Maha Sabha, under the leadership of Sunil Choudhary, CA, President Jammu Urban unit, assembled near Kunjwani Chowk and staged protest against Delimitation Commission and Government at the Centre.
Talking to reporters, Sunil Choudhary described the draft report as discriminatory which has ignored Jatt community with regard to political representation. He asserted that the Election Commission of India has left the aspirations of the entire Jat community and the farmers on the behest of ruling party in the Centre.
Sunil Choudhary alleged that the Central Government has attempted to gag the voice of Jats by reserving and disbanding the constituencies starting from Kathua to Mendhar wherein Jats are living in large numbers. He mentioned that the RS Pura constituency was reserved for the last more than 26 years and instead of giving chance to other deserving people, Delimitation Commission preferred to keep it reserved again.
Sunil Choudhary reminded that earlier there were four Legislators, including two MLCs from the Jat community who had served the people of Marh and Suchetgarh constituencies.
Baljeet Randhawa, Vice President AIJMS, said that it has been clearly seen that the politically motivated draft report has been prepared to fulfill the desire of a political party which is scared of defeat from the people if the elections are held in J&K as they have failed to deliver on the ground.
Rampal Choudhary, Vice President AIJMS informed that Jat Maha Sabha will intensify protests at Tehsil level as per the directions of President Ch Manmohan Singh.
Vijay Choudhary, Vice President AIJMS asked the Delimitation Commission as well as the Central Government to immediately restore the Suchetgarh constituency and de-reserve the RS Pura and border constituency Ramgarh.
Among others, who joined the protest, included Master Harbhajan Singh, S Sukhwant Singh, Raj Kumar (Raju), Paras Ram Chowdary, Ravinder Nagra, Subash Randhawa, Raju Randhawa, Surjit Singh, Rampal Choudhary, Jagdish Randhawa, Sukhwant Singh, Krishan Lal Bhagat and Ajeet Sandhu.
