JAMMU, Feb 14: Vice president of BJP, district Anantnag and councillor Mattan, Municipality, Rakesh Koul has expressed strong resentment and condemned the false concern shown by National Conference (NC) leaders in their speeches yesterday in a function at Jagti township on the plight of displaced Kashmiri Pandits.
In a statement issued here, today, Koul said this way the NC leaders were trying to shield their party which can’t absolve itself of the forceful exodus of seven lakh Kashmir Pandits in 1989-1990 from Valley. “It is strange that those responsible for Pandits exodus are now shedding crocodile tears”, he added
Koul lambasted NC leaders for trying to misled Kashmiri Pandits who were thrown out of the Valley in 1989-90 by making false statements now. This way they are hoodwinking the community for whose plight none other than NC leaders right from former Chief Minister, Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah to Omar Abdullah were responsible.
He said KPs can’t be befooled any more now and asked the NC leadership what steps they took during their rule for the safe return and rehabilitation of Pandits in their homeland Kashmir. Had the NC leaders been so concerned for the community why did not they frame a blue print in this regard during their rule and took up the issue with the then Union Government forcefully.
He said why NC Minority Cell did not speak on the plight of displaced Pandits during Dr Abdullah or Omar Abdullah’s rule instead of putting fingers on BJP now.
Rakesh Koul said that he is of firm believe that under the able and dynamic leadership of Narendra Modi, Prime of India, the genuine demands and the rehabilitation of Pandits in Valley with honour and dignity will become a reality.
He appealed Kashmiri Pandit community to remain cautious and not to fall prey to NC’s false propaganda.
