PMSSS aspirants demand extension in registration date

SRINAGAR, Aug 13: Aspiring students of Prime Ministers Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) have appealed the authorities to extend both online and offline registration date for the scholarship.
“We appeal the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and All India Council for Technical Education to extend the online registration date by some more days,” said the aspiring students.
The aspirants said that due to uncertain situation from last week, the students could not complete their formalities. “The MHRD has put online registration available upto August 10, but due to strike, restriction and snapping of Internet services of private companies, we couldn’t complete our formalities,” they said.
Fayaz Bhat, Chairman People’s Forum, said that they have conveyed the message to the authorities and appealed to extend the date for form submission.
An amount of up to Rs 30,000 per annum for general degree courses, up to Rs 1.25 lakh per annum for Engineering and up to Rs 3 lakh per annum for Medical students is being given to every scholar as tuition fees as per the PMSSS guidelines. In addition to it the hostel fees, mess charges are also being given for all categories of courses up to a ceiling of Rs 1 lakh per annum.
