Madan demands relief for flood victims

NEW DELHI, Aug 14: Member Parliament (MP), Jammu-Poonch Constituency, Madan Lal Sharma today demanded proper rescue and relief for the flood affected people of low lying areas of districts Samba, Jammu, Rajouri and Poonch.
Showing concern over the flash floods in all the four districts, he said that the inhabitants of these districts are required to be immediately put at safer places till the water level comes down.
“Flash floods have affected not only the crops but also the property of the people”, Mr Sharma said, adding that people affected by the flash floods are mostly the poor people. So it becomes the duty of the Government to support them till their proper settlement, he asserted.
He also advised people not to construct their houses at the places, which are prone to flash floods, to avoid any such situation in the future. He also asked the Commissioner JMC Jammu to get cleared the chocked nallahs, which are furthering the sufferings of the people.
The MP also asked the administration concerned to ensure proper sanitation and safe drinking water to the people so that nobody gets affected by any water borne disease.
