NC hails CM’s efforts in restoring peace

JAMMU Aug 14: National Conference today said that the political sagacity and administrative acumen of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in handling the sensitive situation in the wake of unfortunate Kishtwar incidents, has helped in restoring peace and normalcy in the Jammu region. The party also hailed the people of the State for maintaining unity in true spirit of the pluralistic ethos of the State.
“The timely action by the Government instilled a sense of confidence and security among the people and helped in restoring order”, said Devender Singh Rana Provincial President while addressing senior functionaries of the party at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here this evening. He also lauded the great role of the people in maintaining amity and brotherhood by rejecting vested interests who wanted to pollute the atmosphere by taking advantage from the obtaining unfortunate situation.
The Provincial President castigated BJP for mudding the waters by polarising the situation with an eye on the ensuing elections.
Taking a dig at BJP for crying hoarse about the sovereignty of the State being in danger, Mr Rana said there is no threat to the unity and integrity from the people but it is because of the parties like BJP which rakes up provocative issues like scrapping of Article 370 and carving out of a separate state by trifurcating Jammu and Kashmir.
Those present on the occasion were State Sr. Vice President Surjeet Singh Slathia, Vice President Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial Secretary Sheikh Bashir Ahmad, MLA Bimla Luthra, former legislators Brij Mohan Sharma, Th. Kashmir Singh, Babu Rampal, and senior leaders Jugal Mahajan, Gurdeep  Singh Sassan, Dharamveer Singh Jamwal, Taranjeet Singh Tony, Chander Mohan Sharma, Satpal Lakhotra, Rajesh Bakshi, Choudhary Arshad, Vijay Lochan, Surinder Singh Bunty, Mohammad Ayub Malik, Rohit Bali and others.
Mr Rana said that National Conference will stand like a rock against the peace inimical elements and continue to work for building an atmosphere of peace, tranquility and communal harmony by foiling the sinister machinations of Bharatiya Janata Party and People’s Democratic Party combine besides their cohorts who are hell bent to vitiate peace across the State for their petty political gains.
He said the people have seen through the nefarious game plan of divisive and communal forces who joined hands to create mistrust between various communities and drawing a wedge on communal lines. “This is against our glorious pluralistic ethos and we will fight all those attempting to trample this time tested tradition”, he maintained.
He described the demand for trifurcation as anti-national saying that those advocating it were, in fact, conspiring against the larger interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir in general and the country in particular. He said National Conference has been tirelessly working for creating an atmosphere wherein every people belonging to various faiths and different regions live with a sense of pride as single entity. He cautioned people against power hungry political outfits which take no mercy in compromising the public interest for furthering their political constituency.
“The parties like PDP and BJP should see writing on the wall with people foiling their nefarious designs by showing immense degree of unity”, he said.
