KATHUA, Feb 24: Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal today rescued 41 bovines within the district, one person was arrested and two vehicles involved in the bovine smuggling were seized.
A police team led by Inspector, Sunil Kumar SHO Police Station (PS), Hiranagar under the supervision of SDPO Border, Sachit Mahajan while on naka checking duty in its jurisdictional area near Londi Morh intercepted one truck bearing Registration Number, JK02BM-5525 which was being driven by Amarjeet Singh, son of Kulbir Singh of Palpora tehsil and district Kulgam of South Kashmir who was enrouted from Punjab towards Srinagar.
He was signaled to stop for checking. During checking of the vehicle, 23 bovines were found loaded in it mercilessly .Thereafter all the 23 bovines (21 Cows, 02 Oxen) were rescued, one person was arrested and the vehicle involved in bovine smuggling was also seized.
A case has been registered at PS Hiranagar vide FIR No. 22/2022 U/S 188/IPC, 11 PCA Act and further investigation is going on.
While in another instance a police team led by Inspector, Amit Sangra, SHO PS, Rajbagh under the supervision of SDPO Border, Sachit Mahajan during naka checking duty near NHW Rajbagh noticed one suspicious Truck bearing Registration Number JK02AT-4957 which was being driven by an unknown person who on seeing naka party fled away from the spot while abandoning the vehicle. On thorough checking 18 more bovines were found to be loaded in it illegally. All the 18 bovines (10 Cows and 8 Oxen) were rescued and vehicle involved was seized. A case vide FIR No. 33/2022 U/S 188/IPC,11PCA act has been registered at PS Rajbagh and further investigation into this matter has been initiated. Thus overall 41 bovines were rescued, one person was arrested and two vehicles were seized.
