Child dies, 4 of family critical due to food poisoning

SAMBA, Feb 24: A child died while four other members of the family are serious due to food poisoning in Samba last night.
As per reports the entire migrant family fell ill after taking dinner in a private unit of second phase industrial area in Rakh Amb Tali area of Samba district last night.
All family were shifted to the District Hospital Samba in a critical condition where doctors declared the five-year-old child Prince as brought dead and started treating the rest of the members.
According to the information received, Jai Prakash, who is resident of Bihar and works in a private unit in Samba, at night made the famous food of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, Litti Chokha and the whole family ate it and later the child Prince became ill. Instead of bringing them to the hospital, these people started doing the dusting and the condition of the child gradually became critical.
Seeing his condition is deteriorating he was brought to the hospital in the morning where doctors declared him dead and his sister Anshu Devi and father Jai Prakash are being treated at Samba Hospital. In the evening the condition of Jai Prakash’s wife, Sharda Devi also became critical and she has been referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu.
In this context, the Samba Police has also started investigation after registering a case and confiscated the leftover food and sent it to the Forensic Laboratory for investigation. The body of the child Prince has been handed over to the relatives after the post-mortem.
Dr Lalit, who is treating the patients in District Hospital Samba, said that the matter is under investigation and everything will become clear after the report of the child’s postmortem and report of forensic laboratory. It has been found from their study that they have eaten some poisonous thing in their food, after which all these people have fallen ill.
