People demand PHC at Dudu, Panchound; posting of staff

UDHAMPUR, Feb 25: A score of Sarpanches and Panches from remote Dudu and Latti area today urged the J&K UT Administration to provide Primary Health Centres (PHCs) at Kirchi and Panchound in Dudu Sub Division of Udhampur district besides providing good medical facilities and posting of doctors and other para-medical staff in the hospitals of the area.
These issues were projected by the public representatives/ Sarpanches of the area before the Director Health Services Jammu, Dr Sleem-ur-Rehman during his maiden visit to this remote Sub Division today. At Latti tehsil headquarters, the director was accorded warm reception, as according to local Sarpanch Kasturi Lal Gupta, during last over 40 years, Dr Saleem is the only Director Health who paid visit to see this remote area to see ground situation and listen to the grievances of neglected public.
Eleven Sarpanches of the area projected their issues during meeting and demanded, posting of doctors, other medical staff, provide medical/Lab facilities besides generator at Latti and Dudu Hospitals. They also demanded full fledged PHC at Kirchi and Panchound and Health Sub Centre at Dudu. They further demanded Gen set, X-Ray viewer, Ultrasound, Spinal board, Cardiac monitor, Dental X-Ray facility and other allied facilities at Latti Hospital as many tourists visit the area and moreover, next hospital at Cheneni is about 60 kms away.
The Director gave on the spot instructions to the CMO Udhampur and other senior officers accompanying him, to provide these urgent facilities and also assured Sarpanches to appoint staff in the local existing hospitals/sub centres in this Sub Division shortly.
