Basharat Ahmad Dhar appointed as chairperson of State SERC

SRINAGAR : The Government today announced the appointment of senior bureaucrat Basharat Ahmad Dhar as Chairperson of the State Electricity Regulatory Commission on the recommendations of the Selection Committee constituted under the provision of the Electricity Act-2010.
The Cabinet which met under Chief Minister Omar Abdullah appointed Basharat Ahmad Dhar, Managing Director, State Power Development Corporation (PDC), as Chairperson of the State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC), an official spokesman said.
He said the Cabinet also decided that the charge of the Managing Director, PDC shall be held by the Principal Secretary, Power Development Department (PDD) in addition to his own duties.
The Cabinet also approved the constitution of the State Property Tax Board and the appointment of Jeet Lal Gupta as its Chairman after his superannuation on August 31, the spokesman said.
He said retired Law Secretary Farhat Tasneem and former IAS officer Kachoo Isfandyar Khan, would be its members.
The board would be serviced by the General Administration Department, he said. (AGENCIES)
