Passport Office, ICCR Jammu host grand cultural prog

JAMMU, Feb 27: The Regional Passport Office (RPO) Jammu hosted a mega cultural programme of local flavour “Dogri, Kashmiri and Pahadi Songs, Dance and Music” by renowned Saptak Classical Fusion Band here today.
The programme started with a lighting of lamp performed by the chief guest Mukesh Singh, ADGP Jammu Zone, guest of honour Prof Manoj Kumar Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu and other prominent dignitaries.
A galaxy of music lovers, foreign students, students and faculty members of the University congregated and witnessed the programme.
While addressing the audience in his welcome note, NK Shil, Regional Passport Officer and Regional Director, ICCR, J&K and Ladakh has urged all the people to come forward in large members, participate proactively in the Azadi Ka Aamrit Mahotsav (AKAM), strengthen the roots of democracy and resolve to become equal partners in our development and shared future. He wished AKAM to be a grand success and hoped that with people’s participation the nation can achieve the goal of AKAM.
Speaking on the occasion Mukesh Singh, ADGP Jammu Zone complimented the unique Hindi poem recited by the RPO in appealing tone to highlight the vision of AKAM.
Prof MK Dhar, VC of Jammu University appreciated the untiring efforts in organizing such a colourful extravaganza towards the noble cause of AKAM.
The performances began with National Anthem followed by National Song by the Saptak Classical Fusion Band. The powerful Dogri singing and Kashmiri dance items by the artists Shartik Raj and Uday Veer Slathia enthralled everybody in the audience. The programme reached its crescendo and audience bumped on their toes when India Got Talent Fame Rohit Sharma and Ravi Sharma sang duet Dogri song superbly.
The musicians who accompanied the group include Sunil Sharma, Gaurav Jandu (Cazon), Amit Anand (Tabla), Sumit Sharma, Richard Teji (Guitar), Monty (Keyboard), Rakesh Anand (Flute), Amit Sharma (Rabab) and Tanya, Deepika, Jyoti, Meenu and Sanjana the amazing dancers choreographed by Rakesh Kona added colours to the mega event.
The special event also was also live on virtual mode. Another striking feature was the wonderful anchoring done by versatile presenter Rajni. The programme ended with a vote of thanks presented by NK Shil.
