BJP announces agitation against price hike, erratic power, water supply

JAMMU, June 6: Taking the Coalition Government head on over the price rise, erratic power and water supply, misgovernance and raising corruption, the BJP has announced to intensify its agitational programme and launch a Jail Baro Andolan at district headquarters across the State on June 22.
The decision to this effect was taken in the senior leaders, state office bearers, district presidents, MLAs, heads of Morchas, Prabharis and She Prabharis meeting of the Party which was held here today under the chairmanship of Shamsher Singh Manhas state president of the party and general secretary (organizational), Ashok Kaul. The other prominent Party leader present in the meeting included National Executive Member, Dr Nirmal Singh, Party chief spokesperson of the state and National Executive Member Dr Jitendra Singh, Chander Parkash Ganga, senior vice president of the Party, Sat Sharma (CA) general secretary and Sham Choudhary, MLA.
Manhas said that the people of the state, Jammu province in particular, have been made to suffer on account of long power cuts and irregular supply of drinking water. In these days of temperature touching 45 degrees, the PDD has imposed cuts more than eight hours. Not only this, The PHE too has failed to ensure regular supply of drinking water, he added.
He said that even after installation of electronic meters and regular payment of electricity bills, the Government has resorted to unscheduled power cuts, which have added to the miseries of already suffering people. He also condemned the Government’s recent drive to revise the load of electricity without giving due consideration to the actual power consumption by domestic users.
The Party also announced to launch membership drive to be increased by 20 percent this time and its cadres have been asked to go to every nook and corner of the state and apprise the people about the policies and programmes of BJP and misgovernance of UPA.
Ashok Kaul took stock of the organizational and political activities during the past two months in different districts and announced the party’s statewide membership drive from June 14.
Som Raj Khajuria, Chander Mohan Sharma, Sat Sharma (C.A), Usha Choudhary, Kavinder Gupta, Bansi Lal Bharti, Yudhvir Sethi, Vibodh Gupta, Mamta Singh, Purnima Sharma, Shilpi Verma, Dr. Nirmal Kamal, Ramesh Arora , Harinder Gupta, Balbir Ram, Dr. Ali Mohd. Mir, Rajesh Gupta, Suraj Padha, Dina Nath Bhagat were among others who attended the meeting.
