Khawas people protest, demand completion of road

RAJOURI, Feb 28: The people from remote Khawas area of district Rajouri today held strong protest demonstration at Kotranka Chowk in Kandi belt and demanded early completion of Khawas road.
Official sources said that a large number of people led by Gurdev Singh (adv) assembled at Kotranka main chowk and blocked road. They started protest demonstration against the J&K UT Administration demanding construction of Kandi-Khawas road which has been abandoned by the authorities due to unknown reasons.
The protest and blockade of road created long traffic jam for about an hour in the hilly town. They alleged that due to delayed work, the road has not been completed so far. The people of this area were facing lot of hardships moreover, Sumo and Mini-bus operators avoid to ply their vehicles due to worst condition of this road. They were shouting slogans in support of their demand.
After the assurance from Tehsidar Kotranka and PWD AE/JE the villagers lifted protest dharna. They assured that the work on Khawas road will be started soon.
