DODA, Feb 28: Deputy Commissioner Doda, Vikas Sharma convened a meeting of key members of District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) to discuss the road safety measures and future action plan.
The DC, while reviewing the availability of basic equipments and tools for the better implementation of road safety measures, directed the ARTO to propose the purchase of enforcement vehicle and Speed Guns under road safety funds for the district.
Chairman, while reviewing the erection of crash barriers along sides of Batote Khalleni road, was informed that 13 Km length of crash barriers has been achieved till date. Furthermore, chair was informed that out of 14 black spots, 9 have been covered on Batote Khalleni road.
On erection of crash barriers on Khalleni to Ganpat road and Thathri Gandoh road, XEN PWD (R&B) informed that proposal has been submitted in the Chief Engineer’s office.
On Doda- Bhaderwah, Bhaderwah- Chatergalla and Drudu- Jai, OC GREF was directed for clearence of all the black spots, installation of crash barriers, creation of view points, eateries and toilets facilities along the road sides as the roads cater the major tourist places of the area. To identify the view points etc and to remove the encroachments on the roads of major tourist places, DC directed to constitute three membered committee comprising of Revenue Officials, PWD officials and GREF officials.
Chair also directed for immediate erection of crash barriers and signages on Doda- Dessa road.
While reviewing the progress on the establishment of prestigious Driving, training cum fitness institute, DC was informed that a patch of state land has been identified and matter shall be taken up with concerned authorities for DPR preparation.
Further, DC asked the concerned to make 100% availability of functional GPS in all commercial vehicles and register all JCBs operating in the district with installation of GPS, besides, he directed to install GPS in all the ambulances for better disaster management in emergency situations.
Other important issues discussed in the meeting include, working of toll free number in the district, creation of road safety Clubs in schools & Colleges, road safety audit of all existing roads, designation of police station for inquiry in the accident causes, implementation of RIBBON Development act, etc.
The meeting was attended by ADC Doda, CPO Doda, SSP Doda, CMO Doda, ARTO, Executive Engineers of PWD & PMGSY, OC 114 RCC (GREF), DTI Doda, CAO Doda, Inspector MVD, EO MC Doda, EO MC Bhaderwah, representative of NHIDCL, and representatives of other members of the DRSC.
