JAMMU, Feb 28: J&K president of All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organisations, R.K Kalsotra here today met Manoj Dwivedi, Principal Secretary GAD and Achal Sethi, Secretary, Law and apprised them that reservation in promotions is not being restored in J&K.
He was accompanied by Kuldeep Kumar Gaddi, J&K Coordinator of Confederation.
Kalsotra apprised both the officers that there is already a backlog of 1.04 lakh SC/ST/OBCs in recruitment.
“After the abrogation of Article 370, the national laws were to be implemented in J&K as well. But till now reservation in promotions is not restored since 2015,” Kalsotra claimed.
He said that in a recent judgment, the Supreme Court has given discretion to the State governments to implement reservation in promotions.
The Principal Secretary GAD promised a high-level meeting with other officers to chalk out strategy regarding restoration of reservation in promotions.
