7 bovines rescued, 2 smugglers held

KATHUA, Feb 28: Police here today under the supervision of SSP Kathua, R.C Kotwal rescued seven bovines and arrested two persons along with a vehicle involved.
A handout of police department stated that a police team led by Inspector Vijay Kotwal, SHO Police Station Lakhanpur under the supervision of Dy.SP DAR Kathua, Sukhdev Singh while on checking duty at Lakhanpur intercepted a truck bearing number JK14A-7985 which was driven by one Shoket Ahmed son of Mohd. Iqbal along with his accomplice Farooq Ahmed son of Bashir Ahmed, both from Lornu, Kokernag in Anantnag.
During checking of the vehicle, 7 bovines were found loaded mercilessly and were being transported to Kashmir without legal permission.
All the 7 bovines were rescued and the two persons were arrested while the truck involved was seized.
In this regard a case was registered at Police Station Lakhanpur U/S 188/IPC, 11/PCA Act and investigation started.
