Employees, social organizations celebrate I-Day

JAMMU, Aug 16: 67th Independence Day was celebrated yesterday with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm by various social organizations and employees bodies across the State.
J&K High Court Bar Association celebrated the Independence Day by hoisting National Flag amidst singing of National Anthem and raising slogans like Bharat Mata Ki Jai in the Courts Complex Janipur.
Speaking on the occasion, president of the Bar Association M K Bhardwaj recalled the sacrifices of freedom fighters and appealed for peace and harmony. All office bearers of the Bar Association besides former president B S Slathia, Sunil Sethi and senior members were present in the flag hoisting ceremony.
Chairman Legislative Council, Amrit Malhotra unfurled the National Flag at a function organized by Raghunath Bazaar Traders Association at Raghunath Chowk.
On the occasion, the Chairman also honoured officers of civil administration and prominent citizens for their exceptional services towards society. Prominent citizens in large number were present on the occasion.
President Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Y V Sharma hoisted the tricolour at Rail Head Complex Jammu.
The Department of Agriculture Jammu celebrated the Independence Day at Krishi Bhawan with patriotic fervour and zeal at a function organized by All Jammu & Kashmir Agriculture Officers Welfare Forum (AJKAOWF), Non-Gazetted Agriculture Graduates Association (NGAGA) and J&K Agriculture Employees Association in collaboration. Director Agriculture Jammu Ajay Khajuria hoisted the National Flag. A large number of officers and employees of the Agriculture Department from all over Jammu division participated in the function.
PDD employees of district Kathua celebrated Independence Day under the banner of Provincial Electric Employees Union. Superintendent Engineer A K Gupta accompanied by PEEU provincial president P C Sharma hoisted the National Flag amidst raising of patriotic slogans.
All India Backward Classes Union celebrated the Independence Day by organizing a function under the leadership of its president Abdul Majid Malik, who unfurled the National Flag on the occasion. The speakers strongly condemned recent Kishtwar violence and appealed people to maintain communal harmony for peace and progress in the country.
Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha celebrated Independence Day at the Mahajan Bhawan Shalimar Road wherein Vinod Gupta hoisted the National Flag amidst singing of National Anthem and shouting of patriotic slogans. Speakers on the occasion threw light on the freedom struggle and prayed for peace and prosperity in the country.
Regional Red Cross Society Jammu and Young Blood Association celebrated Independence Day at Red Cross Bhawan Kacchi Chawni Jammu where National Flag was hosted by Anil K Padha Hony Secy Red Cross Jammu region who is also the Chairman of Young Blood Association along with the other heads of social organizations and pledged for serving the suffering humanity irrespective of the caste, colour, creed and religion.
Independence Day was celebrated at Pir Mitha Chowk with great gusto and patriotic fervour. In the function, which was organized by president of Pir Mitha Dhakki Sarajan Traders Association Piyush Abrol, the national tricolour was unfurled by Mahant Rameshwar Dass in the presence of Muslim Federation chairman Deen Mohammad and others.
On the occasion of Independence Day, Vivek Gupta, president of Dudhadhari Chowk Shopkeepers Association hoisted tricolour at Pawan Chowk Shastri Nagar. Stationary and sweets were distributed among the children and other participants. All the shopkeepers and locals from all the communities took part in the programme.
The Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Welfare Association organized a special meet at its headquarter to commemorate the 67th Independence Day. A large number of community members participated in it. Association general secretary R L Kaith unfurled the National Flag and paid homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the motherland.
National Mazdoor Conference celebrated 67th Independence Day by organizing a colourful function at Pacca Danga Chowk where the NMC president Subash Shastri hoisted the National Flag. Despite heavy rains, a number of people from different walks of life participated in the function.
Members of Bharat Vikas Parishad, (Jammu West) branch along with a large number of residents of the Sarwal Colony celebrated the 67th Independence day at Dewan Janjghar, Sarwal,Jammu. O P Mahajan, a noted businessman, social worker and patron of the branch was the chief guest. He was honored by V K Tandon, Director Agriculture (Retd) and president, BVP (Jammu West) branch. The event started with flag hoisting by the chief guest and followed by singing of National Anthem.
Canal Road Walkers Welfare Association (CRWWA) celebrated Independence Day by hoisting National Flag at Walkers Track. President Prof M S Nargal and vice-president Lajha Manhas jointly hoisted the flag in the presence of all walkers with great enthusiasm. In spite of heavy rains, the walkers including men, women and children assembled at the time of flag hoisting ceremony. After the National Anthem, all walkers greeted each other. Refreshment, tea and snacks were served to the walkers on this occasion. People from adjoining localities were present on this function.
Development Committee president, TRT Nagrota, PL Dhar hoisted flag in an impressive, well attended and colourful function held in the camp premises. The students sang patriotic songs before the presentation of National Anthem.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Dhar appealed the people to maintain peace and harmony at this crucial juncture.
Mohalla Welfare Committee New Plot vice-president Jagdish Magotra along with committee office bearers and prominent citizens hoisted the National Flag. National anthem was sung and later sweets were distributed. The people on the occasion greeted each other on this auspicious day and expressed hope that the nation would continue march towards progress and prosperity.
Independence Day was celebrated at Saillan Talab Metador Stand Udhampur. The program was organized by Pawan Khajuria BJP State secretary and other residents of Talab Saillan Udhampur. Large number of people gathered during the flag hosting ceremony. National Flag was hoisted by Mohd Anwar (Raju) amidst shouting of slogans like Bharat Mata Ki Jai. On the occasion, sweets were distributed among the public.
In a programme held at Bhour Camp Jammu, Aadarsh Bhartiya Samaj celebrated Independence Day with enthusiasm and gaiety. Ex Espy S Sadhu Singh hoisted the National Flag on behalf of the Samaj. In another programme in connection with the celebration of Independence Day – a ‘Beautician & Herbal Treatment Training Centre’ to train the Women was opened by the Samaj at Bhour Camp.
The Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan, Janipur Jammu celebrated 67th Independence Day by hosting National Flag and presenting colourful cultural programme in its premises. M L Dogra, chairman Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan was the chief guest whereas K L Verma, former HoD of Academy of Music and Fine Arts and V K Magotra, former Regional Director of Field Publicity ,Government of India were guest of honors.
Anti Corruption Campaign Movement by Anna Hazare celebrated Independence Day. On the occasion, National Flag was hoisted by social worker Om Parkash Sharma in the presence of Krishan Kumar Slathia. Speakers recalled the sacrifices of freedom fighters and appealed countrymen to work unitedly for peace and brotherhood.
The Jammu Welfare Organization unit Roop Nagar under the presidentship of Kasturi Lal Gupta hoisted National Flag at Roop Nagar Enclave. A number of people from the adjoining areas participated in the programme.
67th Independence Day was celebrated by inmates of SOS Balgran Channi Rama Jammu. The National Flag was hoisted by S K Sharma, General Manager Incharge Projects, Northern Region-II, Power Grid Corporation Ltd Jammu. He also inaugurated the approach road along with foot path and sitting arrangement around the play ground, constructed Power Grid. On the occasion, cultural programmes and patriotic plays were staged by SOS children.
Durga Nagar Welfare Committee celebrated Independence Day by hoisting the National tricolour in presence of the local inhabitants and senior citizens. National Anthem was sung and sweets were distributed among the participants. Speakers threw light on freedom struggle and great sacrifices for the same.
Satyug Nirman Sanstha Jammu and Kashmir celebrated the 67th Independence Day at its headquarters in Resham Ghar Colony Jammu. The National Flag was hoisted by the secretary general Suman Sharma.
On the Independence Day, Sanjay Rakwal, president of Jammu Kashmir Yuva Kalyan Samiti Panjtirthi Welfare Association hoisted National Flag at Radio Station Chowk Panjtirthi. He appealed people to have a pledge to work for unity and growth of the country.
International Hindu Personal Law Board (J&K) Jammu organized a simple but impressive function for celebrating 67th Independence Day. On the occasion, National Tricolour was jointly hoisted by state president Romesh Gupta and senior vice-president Suman Sharma.
J&K Human Rights Watch and Ist Step Tutorial Jammu celebrated the 67th Independence Day by jointly organizing a programme at JKHRW State Headquarters. On the occasion, JKHRW chairman B L Kapoor unfurled the National Flag while children sung patriotic songs and National Anthem.
On the occasion of Independence Day, Taxi Operators Union hoisted National Flag at Taxi Stand Railway Station Jammu. President of Hotels and Bar Association Inderjeet Khajuria, chairman of Prayatan Vikas Mandal Ravi Mahajan, president Taxi Operators Union Railway Station Jammu Davinder Choudhary and Chairman Ranjit Singh were among those present on the occasion.
All Jammu and Kashmir Christian Forum celebrated Independence Day by hoisting National Flag at Ambphalla Chowk near District Jail Ambphalla. Markes Gill, State president of the Forum unfurled the tricolour amidst singing of National Anthem and sloganeering like Bharat Mata Ki Jai by all the participants. Sweets were also distributed on the occasion.
President of JP Chowk Below Gumat Trader Association, Gurdarshan Singh hoisted the National Flag on the occasion of Independence Day. Other who were present there, included Vinod Sharma, Jyoti Saroop Gupta, Rajinder Mehra, Renku Gupta, Manpreet Singh Jimmy and shopkeepers.
Badri Nath Shiv Mandir Management Committee, Prem Nagar, New Plot celebrated Independence Day with patriotic fervour. The National Flag was unfurled jointly by Kapil Dev, Chairman and Parshotam Lal Abrol, president in the presence of members of the committee and local populace.
