Deptt of Posts extends date of applications for recruitment

JAMMU, Aug 16: The Department of Posts is recruiting a large number of Postmen and other supporting staff in Jammu and Kashmir and the last date for the receipt of the applications which was scheduled for August 19, 2013 has been extended to August 31, 2013 by John Samuel, Chief Post Master General J&K, keeping in view curfew and allied situations.
“In order to facilitate the candidates to get adequate time to apply for the posts of postmen and multi-tasking staff, we have decided to extend the date” said Samuel.
He announced that there will be 112 posts of Postmen and Multi Tasking Staff, for which the recruitment will be made, adding the minimum qualification will be matriculation and the recruitment will be purely based on merit in the Aptitude test to be conducted in October 2013.
Samuel further said that it has been decided that there will be no interview for the recruitment and it will be only based on the marks obtained in the Aptitude test.
“With the business volume of India Post in Jammu and Kashmir having gone up manifold in the recent years the Department of Posts has initiated process to recruit Postmen and other supporting Staff to meet the business requirements,” Samuel informed.
The Chief PMG said, the Department in J&K has also initiated process of filling up of over 200 posts of Gramin Dak Sevaks for strengthening the postal services in villages and offering efficient services through Branch Post Offices functioning in villages.
According to Chief PMG, the revenue of the J&K Circle has grown up by 42% during the first quarter of 2013-14 over the corresponding period and further expressed confidence that the pace of growth is expected to be continuing during the current fiscal with the view to provide trained and best manpower at the post offices, the recruitment of Postal Assistants has already been in progress.
Chief Post Master General also announced that the facilities in Sainik Colony, Pooran Nagar, Roop Nagar, Rehari, Samba, Jourian, Hira Nagar, Basholi, Jammu University and Roop Nagar will be upgraded and modernized with a view to facilitate the customers.
