BJP to hold 100 rallies ahead of polls

RANCHI, Aug 17:  Expecting early parliamentary polls in the country, former BJP national president and senior leader Venkaiah Naidu today said the party has planned to organise around 100 rallies besides-booth level committee’s meet ahead of the polls.

“The Congress, facing criticism for its alleged failure from every corner of the country, could hold parliamentary elections alongwith the Assembly polls in five states of Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram and Rajasthan. Therefore the BJP has planned to organise rallies across the country,” Mr Naidu said while addressing a news conference here.

“The Congress party could take the step to cut down its expenditure,” Mr Naidu said preparations for the parliamentary elections are on.

“The beginning of such rallies was done in Hyderabad on August 11 where the Gujarat chief minister addressed people of 18-40 years,” Mr Naidu said.

“We have also planned to organise meeting of intellectuals in major cities which would be attended by doctors, teachers, chartered accountants, retired bureaucrats and other section of people to mobilise them against the Congress policies,” the BJP leader said.

“Apart from the meetings we have also formed platforms like ‘Friends of BJP and Friends of Overseas BJP’ to seek support from people within and outside the country who wish to help us without joining the party,” he added.

“These people could also join us via social media like Facebook, Twitter and other mediums,” he said.

The BJP leader accompanied by state BJP leader Ravindra Rai and former Jharkhand chief minister Arjun Munda said he was here to intimate the core committee members of the state BJP about the election plans of the party. (UNI)
