NSF pays tributes to Madan Lal Dhingra on Martyrdom Day

JAMMU, Aug 17: On the Martyrdom Day of Madan Lal Dhingra, who laid his life for the country, National Secular Forum (NSF) organized a programme at Jammu University where rich tributes were paid to the martyr.
Amid slogans like “Madan Lal Dhingra Amar Rahe ”Inqulaab Zindabad” ‘Bharat Mata ki jai”, the NSF activists garlanded portraits of the martyr and recalled his supreme  sacrifice for the motherland.
Social activist and NC leader Ankush Abrol  was chief guest on the occasion while  Dr Vikas Sharma presided over the function. NSF president Sukhdev Singh and Dr Shafqat Malik were the guests of honour.
Speakers threw light on  life history of Madan Lal Dhingra who was born in Punjab and sacrificed his life for freedom of the  country.  He went to London in 1906 to study Engineering and  came in contact with revolutionary nationalists like  Shyamji Krishna Verma and V  D  Savarkar. He assassinated Sir William Curzon Wyllie, an Advisor to then Secretary of State of India, at a gathering in the Imperial Institute. He was hanged to death at the Pentonville Prison, London on August 17, 1909 at the age of 26 years.
Vikas Sharma, in his address,  also exhorted the youth to refrain from drugs and intoxicants.
Others who spoke on the occasion, included,  Sukhdev Singh, Balveer Kumar and   Rishikesh Rana.
