Wani flags off peace rally

Doda, Aug 17: Showcasing the age old tradition of communal harmony, peace and brotherhood among different sections of society, people of Doda today organized a peace rally in Doda town which was flagged off by the Minister for PWD (R&B) and Mechanical Engineering Abdul Majid Wani.
While flagging off the rally, Mr. Wani underlined the need of peace and brotherhood among different sections of society for the growth and development of the region. He appreciated people of Doda for strengthening age old tradition of brotherhood and communal harmony among various sections of society. He impressed upon the people to stay united and unveil the nefarious designs of anti-national elements who are making efforts to destroy the harmonious fabric of the society. He said those elements have been taught a lesson by the people of the district by strengthening communal harmony.
Mr. Wani expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of life and property in Kishtwar violence. He said those who are responsible for violence in Kishtwar must be given exemplary punishment so that such incidents don’t occur in future. He appealed to the people of the Kishtwar to maintain and strengthen communal harmony for the social and economic development of the region.
He said Peace Committees should be  created at Panchayat level to strengthen the peace and harmony at grass root level for the everlasting peace and brotherhood. He urged upon the people of Kishtwar to sit together and create an atmosphere under which each and every section of society lives in peace and harmony.
The peace rally passed through different roads of Doda town amidst slogans of peace and brotherhood. The rally culminated at DC Office where DC Doda Mubarak Singh appreciated the efforts of people for maintaining the traditional brotherhood and communal harmony.
