POONCH, Mar 6: Gujjar leader, Shamsher Hakla Poonchi has demanded that the newly constituted Parliamentary Constituency of Rajouri-Anantnag be reserved for Schedule Tribe Gujjar-Bakarwals.
He claimed that there exists a large population of Gujjar-Bakarwals in the newly created Constituency, reserving of which may ensure representation of Gujjar-Bakarwal community in Indian Parliament to address the genuine issues and difficulties faced by them in J&K.
Poonchi claimed that Gujjar-Bakarwal community of J&K is politically, educationally, socially and economically backward.
“Due to indifferent attitude of successive Governments, the Gujjar-Bakarwal Schedule Tribe community of J&K was deprived of such political rights,” he maintained.
