RAJOURI, Mar 7: Work on Hasplote-Dhok road was started about 10 yrs ago and people had high hopes that they will get a good quality road under PMGSY but after the lapse of a decade, they are still dreaming for that, as only some portion of the road is blacktopped yet and department remained unable to complete all the works till today.
It appears as great failure on the part of agency that till now people have to cross nallah at two places by risking their lives during flood as no culvert or bridge has been constructed on the road near Alal Masjid and second one at Dara Bhateli Nallah. During rains these nallahs witness massive water flow and people have to wait for hours to cross these Nallahs.
During rains, vehicles remain unavailable on the route as due to heavy flow of water no one is able to cross the nallah knowing all this PMGSY department left public to suffer. As patients have to travel on-foot to reach at their destination and children have to miss their school on that day. In addition to this, drainage system has not maintained by department and irregular flow of water is causing damage to road and crops as well.
Locals of the area appealed to the Lt Governor J&K UT to constitute a committee to enquire into the matter as why department is not serious toward this road and the responsibility must be fixed on the person who is responsible for delay in completion of this road.
