JAMMU, Mar 8: Save Animals Value Environment (SAVE) Society organized Animal Birth Control (ABC) and Anti Rabies Vaccination (ARV) camp at Military Station Nagrota in collaboration with ‘Help in Suffering Society’ of Jaipur.
The 5 day camp involved spaying/neutering dogs, giving anti-rabies vaccinations and educating residents on effective population management and creating a safe environment for both humans and animals.
A handout by organisers of the camp stated that dogs are released back to their respective localities after 3 days of post-operative care and the dogs suffering from tumours or other diseases were given treatment and retained and will be released after they recover. Chairperson of the Society, Devinder Kaur Madaan said, through Animal Birth Control and ARV, the unchecked growth in homeless dog population can be stopped permanently.
“This leads to fewer dogs on the streets and in many cases, reduces aggression in dogs due to resultant biological changes. It’s a win-win situation for humans and animals,” she maintained.
Vet Sanjay Singh heading ‘Help’ in suffering team said there is no better way to ensure human safety and prevent suffering of animals than to put an end to births on the streets.
