JAMMU, Mar 9: The Safai Karamcharis (SKs) of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) here today staged a protest demonstration and demanded regularisation of those SKs who have been working with JMC for the last some years as casual employees.
The protest was led by Rinku Gill, president of Civic Safai Karamcharis Union who told reporters that about 600 SKs are working in JMC as casual workers and they have even completed their seven years of satisfactory service.
He further said that though Article 370 has been abrogated and Jammu and Kashmir has been made Union Territory so the SKs of JMC should be paid at par with other Union Territories.
Gill also said that as the JMC is facing acute shortage of SKs it should release the selection list of 600 candidates who have filled forms against the vacancies and have also completed other formalities in this regard.
Reorganisation of JMC was another demand raised by the protesters.
