SAMBA, Mar 9: District police Samba has arrested a bootlegger and recovered 52 bottles (180 ml each) of illicit liquor in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Samba.
Police said acting on a tip of information from reliable source regarding transportation of illicit liquor, a team of PS Samba laid a special Naka near new Bus Stand area and successfully apprehended one person who was moving under suspicious circumstances.
While frisking, a total of 52 bottles of JK Special Desi Whisky of 180 ml each were recovered from his possession.
The accused person identified as Ramesh Chander, son of Munshi Ram of Jasath Ghagwal tehsil and district Samba who was carrying the illicit liquor trade in the area for his illegitimate profit has been arrested on spot and illicit liquor was also seized.
A case FIR No. 48/2022 U/S 48 (a) Excise Act registered at PS Samba and investigation started.
