SUNDERBANI, Mar 11: J&K National Conference Pir Panjal Zonal president and former MLA, Javed Rana today slammed the present BJP Government at the Centre for stoking communal divide in the country.
He was speaking during an event organized by National Conference Pir Panjal Zone at Lamberi in which Dheeraj Sharma, a noted intellectual/ social activist along with his supporters joined National Conference.
Rana said that under the present regime, both country and the unity among people has been dented badly. He said that India has been weakened by the divisive policies of the BJP Government which is promoting communal politics since the day it came to power.
Vijay Lochan, Provincial president NC SC Cell, Th Yashu Vardhan Singh, Constituency Incharge NC Kalakote, who is also NC Zonal Secretary Peer Panjal Zone and Incharge District Rajouri and Bhushan Uppal District president NC were also present.
Earlier, welcoming the new entrants to the party fold, Rana said that NC is the only party which understands the value of pluralistic ethos of the UT of J&K and that is the reason behind intactness of social fabric during its tenures in the past. He asked the new entrants to help in strengthening the party at grass roots level and promote the essence of the party which can be gauged by the slogan given by founder of the party Sheikh Abdullah, ‘National Conference Ki Awaaz-Hindu, Muslim, Sikh Itihad’.
He said that the BJP Government at the Centre is directionless and doing experiment after experiment in J&K, and denying popular Government is also part of its failed policy in the UT. He demanded to hold Assembly elections in J&K henceforth and before that restoration of statehood.
Lochan said the party’s role in uplifting weaker sections is remarkable and Sheikh Abdullah’s ‘Land to Tiller’ move was the renaissance for the Schedule Castes as the community got the maximum benefit out of this decision. He urged the SC community to strengthen the hands of Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah.
Yashu Vardhan said that his father late Th Rashpal Singh was a two-time MLA and had served the people of Kalakote since 1983.
He vowed to carry forward the legacy of his father of selflessly serving the people.
He said that the Kalakot constituency is divided into four parts as per the draft report of Delimitation Commission. He asserted that he will ensure that the party will clean sweep in Pir Panjal including Budhal, Sunderbani, Rajouri and Nowshera.
Bhushan Uppal District president NC asked the party cadre to strengthen the NC at grass roots level. He said that ground level workers are the foundation of the party and can play a significant role in strengthening the party far and wide.
