Samba police rescues 5 bovines, arrests smuggler

SAMBA, Mar 12: District police Samba today successfully foiled two consecutive attempts to smuggle bovines, arrested bovine smuggler and rescued five animals in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal.
A police party of PS Ghagwal while performing vehicle checking duty at Naka Tapyal, intercepted a Mahindra bearing Registration Number JKO2BJ-5417.
During checking of the vehicle, two cattle were found laden inside it without any permission.
The accused person identified as Yaqoob Ali, son of Murid of W.No 04 Chak Drab Khan tehsil and district Kathua has been arrested and the vehicle used for the transportation was also seized on spot.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 33/2022 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
Similarly in another incident, a police party of PS Ghagwal rescued three more bovines at Naka NHW Tapyal, Ghagwal which were being transported in a Mahindra vehicle with Registration Number JK02BJ-1729. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized on spot.
A case FIR No. 35/2022 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
