Srinagar, Aug 19: A couple was killed by a landslide caused by incessant rains in North Kashmir’s Uri area of district Baramulla today.
Police said that the couple, identified as Muneer Ahmad, son of Nazir Ahmad and his wife Razeena Begum, were on way along with their cattle in Dara Gutiliya of Uri when landslide struck them.
SDPO Uri Ravinder Pal Singh said that the area was in the grip of heavy rains that caused landslide. Police with help of locals launched a search operation to trace the duo and their bodies were later recovered from the site of incident.
The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Shilnder Kumar directed the district administration to take stock of the situation.
