RAJOURI, Mar 15: District Development Council (DDC) Chairman, Rajouri, Chowdhary Naseem Liyaqat today conducted a whirlwind tour of the city and inspected the progress of several ongoing developmental projects.
He was accompanied by president MC Rajouri, Mohammad Arief, president Beopar Mandal, Rajesh Gupta, DSEO, Sandeep and Executive Engineer, PWD Rajouri, Maqbool Hussain.
The projects inspected today included GMC Rajouri, Abdullah bridge, circular road, court building Rajouri and approach road to Panja connecting circular road.
During his visit at GMC Rajouri, the Chairman was informed that the work on the administrative and academic block is complete while the work on the hostel block would be completed soon.
At Circular road, the concerned officer apprised that the road is an important alternate link within the town connecting new bridge to Tariq bridge, thereby reducing the overall distance by around 4-5 kilometres and also helping in lessening the congestion.
Taking stock of the progress on the double-laning of Abdullah bridge with a total length of 120 meters, it was informed that the project was approved under a languishing scheme at an estimated cost of Rs 4.78 crore.
During his visit to approach the road to Panja connecting the Circular Road, the concerned officer apprised that the work on the road has not been started yet due to lack of funds.
At Court building Rajouri, the Chairman was informed that 75 Kanals of land has been identified and acquired by the judiciary.
The Chairman impressed upon the officers to work with zeal and dedication and expedite the work on the projects to achieve the set targets well before the already set deadlines.
He also asked them to bring in notice timely if any issue and bottleneck arises in the way of the developmental works so that the same can be addressed at the earliest for the larger public interest.
The Chairman also stressed close monitoring of ongoing works to ensure quality while executing work on developmental projects.
He also made it clear that no flexibility shall be entertained in the quality of the projects being executed.
