ANTF nabs 5 interstate narco-smugglers, recovers huge quantity of Poppy husk

JAMMU, Mar 15: Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) today arrested five interstate narco-smugglers and recovered huge quantity of Poppy husk from their possession.
“On a specific input, ANTF apprehended five narco-dealers and recovered huge quantity of Poppy husk from a truck which was on its way from Kashmir to Punjab,” an official of ANTF said.
He said on receiving an input that a truck carrying huge quantity of drugs is coming from Kashmir, ANTF laid nakas at various places at the outskirts of Jammu city and a truck bearing registration number JK04-9011 and one Alto car bearing registration number DLIC-0205 were intercepted near Transport Yard, Narwal, Jammu.
On thorough checking of the truck, he said, huge quantity of Poppy husk was recovered. “Five narco-dealers were arrested from the truck and the car. They were identified as Bashir Ahmed Dar son of Mohd Shazam Dar of Charar e Sharief, Javid Ahmed son of Sanaullah of Pulwama, Dalip Singh son of Manjeet Singh of Kartarpur (Jalandhar), Paramjeet Singh son of Manjeet Singh of Ferozpur (Punjab) and Hanook Singh son of Jagtaar Singh of Ferozpur (Punjab),” he added.
The official said that a total of one quintal and 60 kg of Poppy husk was recovered from the truck which was on its way from Kashmir to Punjab. He said a case under relevant sections of NDPS law was registered in this connection and during initial investigation, it was found that these narco-dealers were using fake registration number on truck to dodge the Police.
ANTF is investigating the forward and backward links of this consignment and more arrests are expected, he said. The whole operation was led by Inspector Varuneshwar Singh and Inspector Meenu Sharma of ANTF under close supervision of Deputy SP Arun Jamwal, SHO Police Station ANTF, Jammu Division and overall supervision of SSP ANTF Jammu Division Vinay Sharma.
