JAMMU, Mar 15: Dogra Degree College organised a talk while celebrating ‘Nari Shakti as Entrepreneur’-Women Entrepreneurs of India with the intent to raise awareness about the status and dignity of women entrepreneurs among students at its College Auditorium, Bari Brahmana, here today.
Rajinder Singh, Additional District Development Commissioner Samba graced the event as chief guest, while Varuna Anand, founder of the Splendor of Kashmir, Divya Bhushan, In-charge Centre for Women Entrepreneur Development at JKEDI, Mehak Sharma, Training Coordinator JKEDI, former Minister Gulchain Singh Charak and Samar Dev Singh Charak, secretary of Dogra Educational Trust were among the special guests.
The event began with a lamp lighting ceremony by the dignitaries, followed by a welcome address by Bela Thakur, College Principal. The influencing stories of Indra Nooyi, former CEO of PepsiCo, Falguni Nayar, founder and CEO of the retail company Nykaa, Nina Lekhi, founder, Baggit and many others were narrated by organisers highlighting the message about the competency of women, intellectual capacity of women as capable of holding high responsibility as efficiently as men can do.
The chief guest stressed upon empowering women is the need of the hour for influencing the social and economic demographics of the country. He added women should get necessary support and encouragement from the society in order to give wings to her dreams, while Varuna Anand unfolded her motivating story of bringing artisanry work in the field of shawl making at national and international elite market and Divya Bhushan explained about schemes and opportunities accessible to aspiring and young entrepreneurs.
Chairman of Dogra Education Trust, Gulchain Singh Charak stressed on undertaking entrepreneurship as an opportunity of self-employment and an impetus for economic prosperity in J&K.
Priyanka Sharma presented a vote of thanks, followed by the National Anthem.
