JAMMU, Mar 16: Bhartiya Kala Sangam has reiterated its demand for Duggar Channel in Doordarshan Jammu to largely cater to the requirements of artists of Jammu Duggar Pradesh.
While addressing a press conference , here today, Romesh Singh Chib, Director, Bhartiya Kala Sangam, Jammu said that Doordarshan TV Station Jammu has been reduced to the level of relay channel having no provision for recording various programs of artists fraternity. He disclosed that till year 2014, Doordarshan Kendra Jammu had been getting Rs 5.00 crores annual budget for programmes and now the financial allocation of this TV Centre has gone from bad to worse making the position of artists miserable directly hitting the promotion and development of Dogri culture and its language.
He further said that Kashmir region has been provided with its own Satellite Kashir Channel besides an independent Doordarshan Kendra since long exclusively meant to promote Kashmiri art, culture and languages . However, he added, no similar facility of Duggar Satellite Channel by Parsar Bharti on the analogy of Kashmir Division has been provided in Jammu Division to help promote artists here and project Dogra Culture through the medium of independent Duggar Satellite TV Channel in Jammu.
He said that installation of Satellite Duggar Channel in Jammu Division will also help counter the sinister propaganda of neighbouring country beside giving fillip to multifarious culture of Dogra land in Jammu, which so far suffered great discrimination at the hands of previous Governments in J&K and at the Centre.
