This refers to the article ‘Jammu needs share of empowerment’ DE Aug 20.
Jammu which has been ignored in various aspects of life by the successive Governments deserves treatment at par with Kashmir region. This part of the State being big in area than Kashmir has remained undeveloped as it does not get its due share in annual allocations. Jammuites have faced discrimination silently and it will not be possible for them to suffer further.The powers that be have to respect the sentiments of Jammu people by giving them due share in governance and fund allocation. It is time the Government takes a holistic view of the prevailing situation and begins the process of empowering Jammuites. Otherwise, the dormant sentiments for a separate statehood will come on the surface which will be difficult to handle later on.
