JAMMU, Aug 22: The 13th Nirvan Divas of Pt Prem Nath Shastri the doyen of Kashmiri culture and Shastras was observed here today. In this connection a grant function was organized by Pt Prem Nath Shastri Sanskritik Shodh Sansthan at Raj Kamal Garden Udaywala, Bohri.
A large number of people attended the function. On the occasion a Mahayagya was also solemnized. The Yagya started yesterday evening and Puranahuti was performed this afternoon. This was followed by serving of prashad to devotees.
Paying rich tributes to Shastri Ji, Pt Omkar Nath Shastri chairman of the Sansthan said that it is the duty of the Sansthan to take his legacy forward. He said Shastri Ji was a visionary and was of the firm view that the community should reform itself with changing times.
He said that Shastri Ji during his life time took various steps in reforming the community as well and he played a leading role after the mass exodus of the Pandits to give a new direction to community in general and its youth in particular.
The welcome address was read by Sundri Lal Kaul while programme was compared by Dr M K Bharat. A K Jyotshi proposed the vote of thanks. The prominent who were present included Jyotshi Bushan Lal, B L Kakroo, Ashok Hali and others.
