POONCH, Mar 23: Panic gripped Mendhar area of Poonch where a leopard killed at least fourteen sheep and injured several others last night.
Reports said that a leopard barged into cattle shed belonging to one Mohammad Shabir, son of Hakim Din, a resident of Ari village in Mendhar and attacked the livestock.
In the incident, 14 sheep were killed on the spot and over half a dozen were left with injuries.
On being informed, a police party besides a Veterinary team rushed to the site to assess the situation.
The incident has triggered a panic wave in the area and locals have urged the Wildlife Department to take necessary action for immediately capturing the wild beast to ensure safety of people as well as their livestock.
