Delegation of Chhamb Displaced Persons meets Sp Secy

JAMMU, Mar 24: A delegation of Chhamb Displaced Persons Association led by S.R Nagial, Association president met Special Secretary Disaster Management, Relief and Rehabilitation and Reconstruction, S.P Rakwal in Civil Secretariat Jammu.
The delegation raised the issue of payment of cash compensation in lieu of land deficiency as recommended by the then government of J&K to 463 families of 1971 of district Jammu, Samba and Kathua.
Another issue raised was that of conferment of occupancy/tenancy rights over the evacuee land allotted to the displaced persons of 1965 and 1971 which has been denied to them under pretext of interpretation of the law contained in the section 3-A of Agrarian Reforms Act-1976.
Still another demand raised by the delegation was that proper guidelines should be issued to the Divisional Commissioner Jammu for further communicating to the DCs of Jammu, Samba and Kathua for processing the cases pending in their offices relating to the Court decree/will deeds etc for payment of relief packages to the legal heirs as has been directed to the PRO Jammu.
A handout of the Association stated that after detailed discussions, S.P Rakwal promised to get the issues resolved from the appropriate authorities concerned as soon as possible.
