JAMMU, Mar 25: The University of Jammu signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for imparting various Training Programmes in the field of IECT at PG Department of Computer Science and IT with National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), an autonomous scientific society under Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India, having one centre in J & K, co-located in New Campus.
The MoU was signed in presence of Prof Manoj Kumar Dhar, Vice-Chancellor JU, by Prof Jasbir Singh, Registrar JU on the behalf of the Department of Computer Science and Deepak Wasan, Executive Director, NIELIT J&K.
Prof Manoj Dhar said the University Departments must collaborate and extend their association so that the premier institutions can contribute towards skilling and up-skilling of the students enrolled in various courses in the university as well as NIELIT. He further hoped that this MoU will provide different avenues to the students and scholars of computer science. He further reiterated that NIELIT J&K should also extend the support in assisting IT activities to the non teaching employees of University of Jammu.
Prof Jasbir Singh said that this MoU shall open new opportunities in key industry practices and skills besides providing exposure to live projects and hands-on practical training to the students of MCA, M Tech and M Sc. Electronics.
Deepak Wassan emphasized that MoU will facilitate effective utilization of the intellectual capabilities of NIELIT in the new domains of Computer Science like IoT, Cyber security, Cyber forensic, Image processing etc. He further informed that in imparting the certificate and diploma courses, NIELIT will take care of the enrolment of students, conduct of training, assessment, certification etc.
Prof Pawanesh Abrol, Head, Department of Computer Science & IT, reiterated that this MoU between NIELIT and Department of Computer Science shall provide significant exposures to the scholars, students and the faculty in running certificate, diploma and Degree programmes.
Prof. Parveen Lehana, HoD Electronics, emphasized that such initiations shall be very significant for the students of electronics as well.
