JAMMU, Mar 25: A two-day training program for trainers of CRPF personnel commenced today at CRPF Camp, Channi Himmat Jammu on “Drug Abuse & Preventive Measures”.
The programme was organized by State Level Coordinating Agency (SLCA) of J&K Society for Promotion of Youth & Masses (JKSPYM) in collaboration with the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD), Union Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment.
Around 50 CRPF personnel participated in the training program which was inaugurated by CRPF Commandant T H Khan in the presence of Second Commandant Mohinder Singh, Deputy Commandant S S Somvanshi and Assistant Commandant Parveen Singh were also present on the occasion. Resource person for the programe was Dr Chand Trehan, Clinical Psychologist, Director Care North.
The training program started with the introduction of National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR), followed by session ‘Overview of Psychoactive Substances’. Dr Chand with the help of PowerPoint Presentation educated participants about different psychoactive substances, its withdrawal symptoms and effects on body, mind, career and family.
Next session of the day one was “Stress Management”. Dr Chand discussed the causes and types of stress, how to manage stress, stress management strategy and suggestions for reducing stress. Relaxation exercises (Deep Breathing, visualization) were also conducted. Last session of day one was “Mindfulness” and the resource person discussed mindfulness, the meditation, effects of meditation, initial steps of meditation, aspects of meditation and how mindfulness benefit a person’s life.
The program ended with the question-answer session and discussions.
