JAMMU, Mar 25: Senior BJP leader and Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Councillor, Gurmeet Kour Randhawa here today started road blacktopping in Sector-C of Sainik Colony in Ward 69.
The work will be completed at an approximate cost of Rs. 25 lakh and it was a long pending demand of locals of the area as the existing road was in very bad shape.
Speaking on the occasion Gurmeet Randhawa said that blacktopping has been done on most of the roads of the Ward in last two years.
“Apart from this, one more work of blacktopping of roads is in pipeline which will be executed in the next financial year,” she maintained adding: “Alignment and laying of roads in Sainik Colony was done 30 years back and traffic has now increased manifold for which roads need widening to facilitate the increased vehicular traffic.”
The Councillor urged upon the concerned department to work out a plan for widening of roads in Sainik Colony as adequate space is available for that on either side of the road.
Major Harman Singh, Devender Sharma, Bhagwan Singh, Dinesh Andotra and Nitu were prominent among those present on the occasion.
