One killed, 8 injured in road mishaps

UDHAMPUR, Mar 30: A pedestrian was knocked to death by an unidentified vehicle near Bali Nallah on the National Highway while eight passengers were injured when a minibus turned turtle at village Lanei near Krimchi, here today.
According to reports, truck driver Mohinder Pal Singh (35), son of Ram Saran resident of Kathua, was hit by an unidentified vehicle at Bali Nallah National Highway last night around 11.30 PM when he was standing near his truck. He reportedly died on the spot.
The body was later shifted to the mortuary room of the District Hospital Udhampur while a case in this connection has been registered at Police Station Udhampur for further investigations.
Meanwhile, eight passengers were injured when a minibus turned turtle at village Lanci near Krimchi in Udhampur.
The minibus, bearing registration number JK14A-9883 was coming from Krimchi towards Udhampur when it met with the accident. Locals and police rushed the spot and took the injured persons to District Hospital Udhampur. Driver of the said vehicle fled the spot after the accident.
The injured persons were identified as Bilo Ram (38), son of Ramu of Duthan; Bushan Singh (29), son of Naseeb Singh of Koldi; Ragubir (22), son of Fambi Ram of Ramnagar; Kuldeep Singh (58), son of Isher Singh of Krimchi; Veena Devi (50), wife of Kuldeep Singh of Krimchi; Jai Chand (38), son of Ramu of Ramban; Ganesh Kumar (27), son of Charan Dass of Billawar and Raj Kumar (20), son of Gouri Chand of Baryalta.
